Reece Sharman-Newell, a freshman at CSU Pueblo representing England, placed second in the men's invitational elite section of the 800 meters in a personal-best 1:45.56 at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium at Azusa Pacific University. Sharman-Newell elevated to the No. 2 all-time outdoor competitor in NCAA Division 2, trailing only the 1995 standard of 1:45.24 achieved by Savieri Ngidhi of Abilene Christian. Joseph Tengelei of Abilene Christian also ran 1:44.44 at an international race in Italy during the summer in 1994.
